MUSCAT: The Sultan Qaboos Comprehensive Cancer Care and Research Centre (SQCCCRC), affiliated to the University Medical City, has maintained its international accreditation awarded by the Joint Commission International (JCI), according to the outcome of a global assessment survey.
The Sultan Qaboos Comprehensive Cancer Care Centre obtained its first international accreditation in June 2023, and it has ever since maintained its status as the only government health institution in the Sultanate of Oman accredited by the JCI.
The JCI accreditation is based on a comprehensive assessment of a health institution’s healthcare system. The assessment covers patient safety, the quality of clinical services, governance and leadership, risk management, infection control, staff efficiency, medication management, healthcare environment and ongoing amelioration.
The importance of the JCI accreditation lies in the fact that it measures a health institution through an integrated system of verifiable standards. It links international recognition to a health institution’s ability to maintain performance, not merely by meeting the standards of a specific evaluation visit. - ONA
